Video: The first flight of Blue Origin's cool new suborbital spaceship
Blue Origin, the private space rocket company owned by Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, just posted highlights from their first test rocket launch and it’s pretty damn cool. The Blur Origin New Shepard vertical takeoff, vertical landing spacecraft blasted off and reached a height of 58 miles before separating from its rocket and parachuting back to Earth.

Repreve transforms millions of plastic bottles into graduation gowns and caps
During the spring 2015 graduation season alone, more than 300,000 students around the nation will graduate wearing Oak Hall Repreve-based gowns, which were created using more than 8 million recycled plastic bottles, hopefully giving graduates a greater understanding of the importance of recycling along the way. The company transforms plastic bottles into fine fiber, and then uses that to create fabric for clothing, including graduation gowns and caps.

9 things you can do to help wild birds this summer
The weather is warming up nicely here in the northern hemisphere, and chances are that most of us are spending as much time outdoors as possible. You’ve probably noticed a lot more bird activity recently: the warmer months are critical for birds, as they need to raise their young and eat as much as they can in order to migrate safely back home, but are your own actions helping or hindering their wellbeing? Songbird numbers have decreased dramatically in recent years because of pesticides and air/water contamination (not to mention domestic and feral cats, wind turbines, window glass, and habitat loss), so the more we can do to help the little winged ones, the better.
