Umo offers timeless appeal to all kinds of interior design

The essence of great design is in the visual appeal, yet smart design includes consideration for the environment, too. With this in mind, commercial furnishings expert Stylex recently released an accent table constructed from natural materials and designed to last.

All four styles of the Umo accent table

The multi-purpose table, called Umo because of the U, M, and O shapes in the construction, works in both residential and commercial settings. It can be used as a side table in living rooms, lounges, workspaces and more.  As much art as furniture, the sculpted design of Umo is a welcome addition to a wide variety of interior design styles. Each table measures 16 inches high by 14.5 inches wide with a depth of 14.5 inches.

Stylex’s Brandon Walker created the piece, playing with geometry while using the least amount of material waste.

“An exercise in minimalism and material purity, we strove to create an ambiguous object that lies between sculptural and functional,” says Walker. “Taking inspiration from the iconic arches found in a de Chirico painting, the table’s architectural, minimalist form is both quiet and bold.”

Umo is available in three wood options — oak, maple, and walnut, each topped with a clear finish to protect the wood while displaying the natural wood grains. It also comes in oak with an opaque black finish.

Moreover, the classic lines are meant to be timeless. A timeless design increases the table’s usable lifespan to avoid furniture waste from trendy cast-offs. The durability is also balanced with sustainability features that have earned Umo Greenguard Gold IAQ certification. Plus, all products are made in the U.S.

“Umo has a simplicity of design that will help it last for generations. It’s not specific to a trend. Careful consideration was given to how thick each wood part should be, as to allow for very little throw-away material,” said Walker.
