Willem Heeffer developed the Boiler Lamp collection, a series of lighting fixtures made from boilers taken out of discarded espresso machines. The line of upcycled lamps was created as the first feature in his new research project “The City as a Mine” that explores potential new uses for various waste materials from factories within Helsinki. Made in partnership with Helsinki-based coffee factory Paulig, the Boiler lights have a matt powder coated exterior that contrasts with the shimmering beat blasted inner finish. They have various holes in them in places of the original piping which makes them asymmetrical and playful.
