The project is an extension of the Nanyang Primary School and Kindergarten in Singapore. The campus is framed by a hilly landscape and Coronation Road, which determined the layout of the new buildings. The team aligned the new building volumes parallel to the hilltop slope and perpendicular to Coronation Road, creating a large inviting central valley.

The curving facades are strategically placed to bend at the center of the campus where a large landscaped staircase is located. The staircase provides easy access to the ‘hilltop’ and the classrooms whilst integrating a small amphitheater space for outdoor group activities. Bold yellow columns support the link bridges that fly overhead and facilitate easy connections between the two parallel wings of classrooms.

A large double-height indent into the valley side wall forms a covered outdoor play area. The rich, dream-like exterior dominated by horizontal stripes creates a playful environment that allows kids to be active participants and custodians of the school's communal space.
